Our Alexandria explodes with a kaleidoscope of concentrated exotic fruit and floral flavours. It is fresh with a luscious mouthfeel and a beautiful lingering finish.
A tropical fruit foundation of lychee, sweet cantaloupe, white peaches, nashi pears and honey mandarins leads to beautiful floral notes of rose water and elderflower. A pleasing off-dry style delivered on an elegant palate, it is easily enjoyed simply by itself or paired with your favourite Thai dish.
You'll easily swoon over this wine upon release however, if you wish to experience a wine that offers more rose petal and nectar-like qualities, Alexandria may be cellared under ideal conditions for 2 to 5 years from vintage date.
To produce our premium tier Pinot Noir, the best sections of Pinot Noir blocks at our Desperation Hill Vineyard were hand-harvested before a portion was 100% destemmed with whole berries sorted through the Pellenc while the remaining batches were left as whole bunches. Throughout the winemaking process, the clones are kept separate and the majority of the final blend is comprised of clones 115, 667 and 777. All ferments are conducted in small 1-2 batches and then are matured for a further 15 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.
This wine has, as all great Pinots should, layers upon layers of flavours, continually expressing more its nuances as it opens in the glass. Elegant and delicate, this wine has a deep red colour especially for the variety. Once more our Reserve Pinot Noir recalls B.C.’s Coastal Rainforests floor, raspberry bushes and strawberry jam notes leading to black forest cake, bramble, mushrooms and black olives on the palate. The palate weight is dense and round delivering a plush mouthfeel with fine silky tannins whilst still showing the elegance of Pinot Noir. A long lingering finish that continues to please!
This Pinot will continue to develop beautifully 5 years plus from vintage date. With patience and proper cellaring, you will be well rewarded!
We are quite proud to announce that our 2016 Reserve Pinot Noir has been selected to compete in this year's Six Nations Challenge.
Grown at our Freedom 75 vineyard our Riesling is exclusively clone 21B from Giesenhiem which is proving to be the best suited for the Okanagan Valley, especifically for the Naramata Bench. This vineyard consists of mostly fine sandy loam with a moderate amount of clay and no rocks.
Elegant notes of lavender, thyme flowers and white peaches are part of its complex bouquet. Our Riesling Clone 21B is vibrant with flavours of Key lime, Golden Delicious apple and Nasturtium blossoms. A strong note of minerality (river stones, wet shale/flint) adds another layer of complexity. This wine has a hint of sweetness to compliment the naturally racy acidity of this Riesling Clone, creating a supremely balanced wine.
Pairs wonderfully with crispy roast pork or cellar it for up to 7 years from vintage date to enjoy a honeyed palate with hints of lime marmalade and baked apple – perfect with a triple cream Brie!
Jeff and Niva Martin come from the Riverina area of Australia, and have been involved with grape growing and wine making since early childhood.
