2016 Vivant Image
La Frenz

Crafted from super ripe fruit grown on the Naramata Bench, the gorgeous deep lemon yellow colour hints at the richness of this multi-faceted, aromatic blend.

The 2016 Vivant is our Rhone style blend of Viognier (50%), Roussanne (36%) and Chardonnay (15%). It was fermented in a combination of neutral French oak and cement eggs to create a complex textured wine. A kaleidoscope of peaches, grilled apricots, marmalade, manuka honey and orange oil notes, all over a full-bodied, rich, round, lingering palate structure. This wine showcases lush refinement with a pleasingly persistent finish. Simply delicious!

Delightful upon release, the 2016 Vivant may be cellared up to five years from vintage date.

2016 Ensemble Image
La Frenz

The 2016 Ensemblé is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (71%) and Sémillon (29%) that has been barrel fermented in mostly neutral barrels and cement eggs. The wine then matured in barrels for a total of 10 months on its lees for added creaminess.

This wine possesses a lovely chalky minerality outline with refreshing acidity. It is inspired by the beautiful dry, white wines found in Graves, a well-known sub-region of Bordeaux. A superbly rich layering of complex winemaking techniques, this wine brims with the mouth-watering exotic aromatics of jasmine, pomelo, tangerine and dried apricot, finishing with a golden hay character that is so typical of aged Semillon. This wine shows a floral honeyed warmth throughout with a rich almost oily texture.

Quite easily enjoyed upon release, our Ensemblé may be cellared for up to 5 years from vintage date to experience further development.

We are quite proud to announce that our 2016 Ensemble has been selected to compete in this year's Six Nations Challenge.

In 2017, our 2015 Ensemble was honoured with the top award at Wine Align National Awards of Canada receiving a Platinum medal. Only 1% of the wines judged received Platinum recognition.

2016 Reserve Chardonnay Image
La Frenz

The 2016 Reserve Chardonnay is a wine that delivers luxurious finesse wrapped around a lovely linear core of acidity.

To craft this wine, the best blocks of fruit were hand harvested and each clone was kept separate before being gently pressed with a percentage of the juice having a short amount of skin contact. The free run juice was racked to 20% cement eggs and 80% French oak barrels for fermentation and the lees were stirred bi-weekly to achieve more creaminess and texture as well as greater complexity. We only used 25% of new oak for just a hint of barrel toast throughout. The majority of this wine underwent slow fermentations by native yeasts for added complexity and integration.

It exhibits beautiful aromatics brimming with salted caramel, golden sultanas, melon, pineapple, walnuts and poached pear with a hint of cardamom and complexing wet river stone notes. On the palate is rich, honeyed and textural with a lengthy finish.

This is an exceptional Chardonnay that will age beautifully for the next five to ten years from vintage date.

2016 Reserve Pinot Noir Image
La Frenz

To produce our premium tier Pinot Noir, the best sections of Pinot Noir blocks at our Desperation Hill Vineyard were hand-harvested before a portion was 100% destemmed with whole berries sorted through the Pellenc while the remaining batches were left as whole bunches. Throughout the winemaking process, the clones are kept separate and the majority of the final blend is comprised of clones 115, 667 and 777. All ferments are conducted in small 1-2 batches and then are matured for a further 15 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.

This wine has, as all great Pinots should, layers upon layers of flavours, continually expressing more its nuances as it opens in the glass. Elegant and delicate, this wine has a deep red colour especially for the variety. Once more our Reserve Pinot Noir recalls B.C.’s Coastal Rainforests floor, raspberry bushes and strawberry jam notes leading to black forest cake, bramble, mushrooms and black olives on the palate. The palate weight is dense and round delivering a plush mouthfeel with fine silky tannins whilst still showing the elegance of Pinot Noir. A long lingering finish that continues to please!

This Pinot will continue to develop beautifully 5 years plus from vintage date. With patience and proper cellaring, you will be well rewarded!

We are quite proud to announce that our 2016 Reserve Pinot Noir has been selected to compete in this year's Six Nations Challenge.

2015 Grand Total Reserve Image
La Frenz

Commanding and complex, the Grand Total Reserve is a cellar-worthy wine that is the pinnacle of our Bordeaux program. Like previous vintages, it continues to offer a well-balanced wine in a robust yet refined style that “big red” connoisseurs have come to covet from us year after year.

For the 2015 Grand Total Reserve, all the varietals were cropped at one bunch per shoot, achieving under three tons per acre. This result in incredible flavour intensity across all three Bordeaux varietals used – Merlot (61%), Cabernet Franc (22%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (17%). Each varietal was aged in 83% new French barriques for 22 months followed by a further 10 months bottle aging. Blending allow us to use the very best characteristics of these varieties to consistently produce this reserve style.

This wine has great depth and concentration of flavours, with aromatics of espresso beans, dark chocolate, tobacco leaves and dusty earth. A wine possessing silky tannins and a velvety palate provides layers of flavours from dates, cassis, leather, eucalypt and venison. The multi-varietal blending and additional aging both in barrel and in bottle achieve a heightened elegance and complexity overall. The never-ending finish will satiate even the most discerning palate.

The structure is dense and fine grained, and will allow the wine to age comfortably for 10 years from vintage date, under ideal cellaring conditions. A wine that will reward you when cellared but that it is also very enjoyable right now!
