Our 2016 Merlot is an opulent wine with a ripe fruit sweetness that gives way to a plush mid-palate and a generous, lengthy finish. This wine had 20 months maturation in 100% French oak barrels (20% new) before release.
This wine is highly aromatic with enticing notes of red currants and plums laced with vanilla bean. On the palate, you’ll experience a velvety richness, fine grain tannins and an elegant structure. Dense flavours are abundant particularly of wild strawberries, kirsch, mocha and dried herbs.
Savour the Merlot with roasted pheasant and root vegetables or pan seared, medium-rare tenderloin with red wine jus.
While the 2016 Merlot is currently quite approachable with such round tannins, we recommend cellaring for up to 10 years from vintage date to truly reap the rewards of an aged well-crafted Merlot.
