2017 SBL Chardonnay
The grapes were carefully handpicked clone 76 from our Freedom 75 vineyard that were gently whole bunch pressed immediately into a Damy Vosge barrel and fermented using indigenous or native yeast for added complexity. The wine was aged a further 17 months on its yeast lees to enhance the mouth filling texture of this wonderful wine.
The wine has a very linear and concise aroma of poached pear and creamy oatmeal. The palate is rich, complex and seamless and as is sometimes the case with wines of this calibre almost beyond single words. Beautifully textured with layer upon layer of honey and orchard fruits with subtle hints of flint it lingers endlessly.
This wine is very Burgundian in style and built to develop for years to come.
