Desperation Hill
Desperation Hill is our new Pinot Noir vineyard named by Niva after driving from the top to bottom. 5 clones of Pinot Noir exclusively were imported from Dijon , France. No other variety reflects soil like Pinot. For this reason each clone was planted over all three soil types. The sandy loam should produce elevated red fruits & fine tannins while the heavy clay at the bottom should produce dense dark fruit wih more tannin even from the same clones. Aside from great soils, aspect, and slope, the vineyard has large diurnal temperature changes (warm days & cool nights) during the critical ripening period which make it the quintessential site for this variety.
