2021 June Release
Happy Summer Solstice! We are extremely pleased to be announcing the 2021 release of our Reserve wine series. This is a superb lineup of wines more than worthy of the reserve classification each showing richness and power, seamless layer upon layer of complexity yet with great balance, finesse and class.
Most of these wines were bottled by mid 2020 and then cellared in bottle with the express purpose that all the components could come together seamlessly by time of release. Without exception they are richly flavoured wines clearly expressing their grape variety and the vineyard source where they were grown. In short benchmark wines that I would happily place on the table with wines from anywhere in the world. While very enjoyable upon release, they will reward a few more years cellaring, something to be proud of and revered by avid Canadian wine consumers.
For our Club Members that have already received Reserve wines, we thank you and trust you are enjoying your selection.
Reserve Wine Release - June 25, 2021
2019 Ensemble: This is our Graves style wine from a blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Semillon. The immediate impression is the great body and length of this wine. A very lively wine showing superb fruit characters of pineapple, papaya and guava from the Sauvignon Blanc with herbal notes of freshly turned hay, tarragon and palate weight from the Semillon. The palate is a rich montage of these two varieties with beautifully textured oatmeal creaminess that lingers endlessly.
2019 Vivant: This wine should be every one's friend or at least shared with only your best friends. At 14.5% alcohol, this is a massive white wine displaying super ripe, aromatic tropical fruits and sweet dried apricots from the 60% Viognier and 25% Chardonnay interlaced with beautiful notes of grilled peaches and marmalade so typical of the 15% Roussanne used in the blend. All these fruit complexities come together tantalizingly on this super rich, complex Conundrum style blend, simply delicious.
2019 Chardonnay Reserve: This wine was made using selected parcels of fruit from our extensive Chardonnay plantings. A superbly rich wine, powerful but with finesse, it just has so much going on and on so many levels. The palate opens with hints of nougat, wildflowers, hints of toast and roasted cashews wrapping around a kaleidoscope of pure varietal fruit characters. The palate is rich and round opening with fruit sweetness, layer upon layer of complexities with the perfect balance and finesse of all its components. You may be able to pay more in BC but you won’t find better. A classy wine.
2019 Pinot Noir Reserve: The deep garnet red colour is a clear indication of the low cropping levels used in our Desperation Hill vineyard and the concentration of this wine. The aroma brims with lifted notes of red fruits, strawberries and stewed rhubarb interwoven with nuances of freshly turned earth, charcuterie and toast from maturation exclusively in premium French barrels. This wine has the richness and roundness to be enjoyed now but excellent fine grain structure to warrant further cellaring. Yet another superb Pinot from a long line of benchmark wines.
2018 Grand Total Reserve: This is a seamless blend of 45% Merlot, 25% of each Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with a lesser 5% of Malbec. We have used the unique characteristics of each to blend the perfect Bordeaux reserve red wine. A very dark wine, brimming with intoxicating nuances of dark chocolate, blackberry jam, menthol and cigar box overlaid with alluring French oak vanillins.
The Grand Total Reserve at 14.5% alcohol is a powerful wine showing great finesse and balance, with dense fine grained tannin structure indicating age-ability, it lingers endlessly and is not to be missed.
2017 Aster Brut (Method champenoise): This is a traditional blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, harvested early to retain fruit and acidity before being stewarded through the winery using super gentle Champagne techniques. The wine is then aged for a whopping three years sur lie on its secondary yeast lees in bottle before release, to maximise complexities and subtle nuances.
The result is a wine brimming with aromas of golden delicious apples, warm brioche and honey all overlaid with subtle complexities evolving from the traditional techniques we used. In the champagne flute it shows a super fine and persistent bead always the hallmark of a great bubbly!!
These wonderful wines are now available for pre-order through our website, to be shipped out on Monday 28th June.
Orders of 6 bottles or more qualify for FREE shipping.
