The 2016 Syrah is a deeply hued and full-bodied wine that was produced in a northern Rhone style.
The addition of a small percentage of Viognier (5%) during fermentation is represented both in the vibrant colour and on the nose with floral notes and fruit characteristics of violets, prunes and black olives. Only French oak was used (15% new) for a total of 18 months maturation before release.
This generous, broad mouthfeel leads to a persistent finish that highlights the fruity, earthy and savoury characteristics of a well-ripened Syrah, bringing to mind ripe blueberries and a hint of white pepper supported by nuances of chocolate, freshly turned earth and brambles. An elegant wine with silky round tannins, this Syrah will have you reaching for another glass!
The classic pairing of roast or grilled lamb would make for a delicious evening with friends.
Under ideal cellaring conditions, the 2016 Syrah can be cellared for up to 5 to 7 years from vintage date.
